Zambia Regional Training Workshop on Artisanal and Small-scale Mining for National Geological Surveys

Lusaka/Zambia
Sixty (60) participants drawn from national geological surveys in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe took part in a regional training workshop on Artisanal and small-scale mining held from 19-22 March 2018 in Lusaka. This training workshop was organised by the PanAfGeo (EuroGeoSurveys & Organisation of African Geological Surveys) programme and co-hosted by the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development and the ACP-EU Development Minerals programme in Zambia.
The workshop built the capacity of geological surveys in providing training to artisanal and small scale miners including those operating in the Development Minerals sector. A Manual on Small-scale mining was also reviewed and finalised during the training workshop. This manual contains specific sections on the Development Minerals sector and will be crucial in further knowledge dissemination on the sector.
