Baseline Assessment of Development Minerals in Jamaica

The baseline assessment revealed the potentials of Jamaican Development Minerals sector - including limestone, clay, sand and gravel. It also points to challenges such as informal operations, low value-addition and insufficient geological data. The study identified opportunities for job creation and import substitution in construction materials and pottery, while recommending policy improvements, technical training, better resource mapping, value-added production and stronger environmental safeguards to enable sustainable sector growth.
