• Value chain analyses of four selected focus minerals – clay, sand, stone aggregate, and dimension stones – chosen from the eight minerals detailed in Volume 1.
Baseline Assessment of Development Minerals in Jamaica
The baseline assessment revealed the potentials of Jamaican Development Minerals sector - including limestone, clay, sand and gravel. It also points to challenges such as informal operations, low value-addition and insufficient geological data. The study identified opportunities for job creation and import substitution in construction materials and pottery, while recommending policy improvements, technical training, better resource mapping, value-added production and stronger environmental safeguards to enable sustainable sector growth.
